About Us!

We’re a husband and wife blogging “team” from the U.S. We’re in ministry together at a church here and hope to return to East Africa at some point for missions work. We both enjoy studying the Bible, Christian ministry and worship music, and hanging out with our neighbors and friends. We’re both addicted to book-buying, although Kristin is less likely to admit to it than Brian is. Brian likes any outdoor or athletic activity before 10 pm and Kristin likes gardening and cooking.

Our blog page is entitled “An Eye Toward Canaan” and was inspired by the old spiritual which begins “On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand and cast a wishful eye/To Canaan’s fair and happy land where my posessions lie.” The chorus repeats “I am bound for the Promised Land.” Canaan/the Promised land often symbolize heaven in Scripture. So here we stand, on earth’s stormy shores, casting a “wishful eye” toward heaven – and yet, we believe that for the Christian, heaven has begun, so we linger in places and with people who are also enjoying a foretaste of heaven.

I hope you’ll join us on our heavenly journey!

I am a young, maturing believer in the Lord. I am inspired simply from reading the two most recent blogs. Thank you both for your committment to the ministry and the message. Your story of transferring to a people-oriented degree, pursuing ministry opportunities, and ultimately joining youth ministry seems hautingly familiar with my own, although I consider myself to be far behind you on the trail set for us to follow. I believe I am headed in a similar direction as you were at age 22. Reading your blog has challenged me to follow Jesus with more honesty, integrity, and clarity. Thank you. I believe you have served as a positive catalyst in my life.

Thank you, Doug. If our blog has encouraged you in the Lord in any way, then it has met it’s primary purpose for existence: the glorify God and encourage others. Blessings to you in Christ!
